Battlefield 4 is set to receive a new map as part of its upcoming Night Operations DLC, which is scheduled for release this September. This comes nearly two years after the game’s initial launch in October 2013.

Announced on the game’s official website, Night Operations will introduce a nocturnal version of the Zavod 311 map, aptly named Zavod: Graveyard Shift. This map is shrouded in darkness, with destructible light sources that will enhance the sense of stealth and strategic teamwork.

“We’ve revamped the sound system to allow you to pinpoint the location of those footsteps,” the developers at DICE stated. “Furthermore, we have also given the night’s gadgets and tools an upgrade to make them more effective in the darkness.”

Zavod: Graveyard Shift will support a variety of game modes, including Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Obliteration, Domination, and Gun Master. For Gun Master, a mode that emphasizes diverse weapons and kills, DICE designed a unique secondary layout specifically for nighttime, as the new lighting conditions significantly alter the way the game is played.

In addition to the time of day, DICE has implemented other improvements, such as a new public server team balancer, improved netcode, and various weapon adjustments.

It is unusual (though not unwelcome) that DICE is still actively supporting Battlefield 4, considering that its successor, Battlefield Hardline, was released much more recently in March of this year. Moreover, Battlefield 4’s final major expansion, Final Stand, was introduced all the way back in November.
