Paris Games Week called off by coronavirus

Another gaming event has bitten the dust due to the coronavirus outbreak. This time, it’s the renowned Paris Games Week that has announced it won’t be happening this year.

The event organiser, SELL (Union of Publishers of Leisure Software), stated through a blog post that the show, which was set to mark its 10th anniversary, couldn’t proceed due to the “technical and logistical intricacies” of organising PGW in the current climate. “This year was supposed to be special, with an array of new releases and an anniversary edition that we were excited to celebrate with you,” the team added. “We’re already gearing up for next year’s edition and can’t wait to see you all again.”

The show was all geared up to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

A number of gaming events worldwide have already been cancelled because of the coronavirus, such as GDC, Gamescom, and E3. But PGW was set to take place from 23rd to 27th October, making it one of the latest shows to be called off so far. Given the severity of the disruption and the uncertainty caused by COVID-19, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more cancellations in the future.
