“Pokémon Sun & Moon: Trademarks Emerge!”

UPDATE 2.52pm: Nope, Tom. Ninlendo of America is not a trustworthy source. Until tomorrow, this reverts to being strictly just a report. We’ve safeguarded the below update for future reference, and because Ninlendo is likely to appreciate it. You got us!

UPDATE 2.50pm: Nintendo has now affirmed the presence of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, after their trademarks and logos spilled onto the internet just an hour ago.

As anticipated, we’ll witness the games being fully disclosed in Nintendo’s Pokémon Direct tomorrow – 3pm, UK time.

UPDATE 2.00pm: Logos and trademarks for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have been detected online.

Their emergence on the EU trademark website occurs just prior to a special Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct that is slated to occur.

Nintendo declared the Pokémon Direct yesterday via Twitter, and pledged news that would commemorate the franchise’s 20th anniversary – which is due to occur this year.

The broadcast is slated for 3pm UK time tomorrow, Friday, 26th February.

From the logos, the games might focus on the sun and moon Pokémon Solrock and Lunaton – perhaps new Mega forms of either one?

The announcement of two new titles mirrors the arrival of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 in the later years of the DS’ lifespan, instead of following the earlier convention of releasing a third game in a generation such as with Red, Blue, and then Yellow.

A new Pokémon game would also be logical given the recent revelation of a mysterious new Pokémon – suggesting that the next generation of new Pokémon creatures is on the verge of emerging.

Catch a new #PokemonDirect on 26/02 at 3pm GMT!
