Kingdoms of Amalur: Exciting Updates & Deals

Who would be eager to purchase everything related to the truly excellent role-playing game Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning? This encompasses the rights to the enchanting Amalur fantasy world, the rights to a potential sequel, and the rights to the highly anticipated Copernicus MMO that everything was leading up to.

There was no need for anyone to… force his hand.

Who would also be interested in acquiring the rights to the historical strategy series Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends?

Everything will be put up for sale at an auction on December 11th.

The auction even includes a previously unheard-of game called Rise of Nations: Tactics, which, according to the seller Heritage Global Partners (via Polygon), was seemingly “completed, but unreleased” for Mac.

The aim is to recover some of the money that the former baseball star Curt Schilling borrowed from the state of Rhode Island but was unable to repay. His 38 Studios’ Amalur vision collapsed last spring, and it also brought down Big Huge Games, the creator of Rise of Nations.

It’s truly a pity, as Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was rather outstanding. It featured a generic fantasy setting, yet it looked splendid, had an open-world environment, and boasted one of the finest combat systems in an RPG. “Kingdoms of Amalur adds a burst of color and a touch of refinement to the open-world RPG, and they are more than welcome,” wrote our Oli Welsh in February 2012, when the game was released.

Apparently, various publishers eyed the remains, but none made a move, thus leading to the liquidation process.

I can’t Copernicus!
