Scribblenauts Unlimited: Europe Delays & More

Scribblenauts Unlimited, the third installment in Fifth Cell’s distinctive puzzle series, is ultimately arriving on European shores this December for Wii U and 3DS, as announced by Nintendo.

Initially intended to be a Wii U launch title, just as it was in North America last November, it was then, surprisingly, postponed to February for undisclosed reasons. Astoundingly, this occurred once more, as it was delayed a second time and gradually faded from the radar, causing many to assume that Warner Bros. would never bring it to Europe – especially since it had already announced an entirely new entry in the series, Scribblenauts Unmasked, during that period.

However, it seems that there was no need for worry after all, although the reasons for the delay remain a mystery. I have contacted Warner Bros. in an attempt to determine what on earth is going on with this.

I reviewed Scribblenauts Unlimited upon its US release, and initially, I found it charming. However, my enthusiasm for it quickly waned. “What starts as an unrestrained experiment in omnipotence rapidly deteriorates into a lackluster task,” I stated in my Scribblenauts Unlimited review. But I also added that “It is still filled with warmth, humor, and creativity, and the Wii U’s TV support transforms the solitary chuckles of previous Scribblenauts into a party game that is particularly well-suited for the young or those in a lighthearted mood.”

Perhaps it was copyright issues that caused the delay of Scribblenauts Unlimited in Europe? Warner Bros. has not yet provided an answer.
