The developer of the promising PC medieval city-builder Manor Lords has flaunted the game’s combat, which resembles the style of Total War.

The video beneath showcases a multitude of battle features, including your ability to provide equipment like head and body protection, the dragging of formations, and a charge impact system. A multitude of factors come into play during a battle, such as height advantage, formation (tight and loose), melee stance (push, give ground, etc.), different modes of archery, fatigue, and the weather. The tactical retreat appears particularly appealing.

For me, what truly astonishes about Manor Lords is how intricate it seems considering it is the work of just one developer: Greg Styczen. Styczen stated that although the focus of this new video is on combat, Manor Lords remains a city-builder/real-time strategy game, with an equal emphasis on each aspect.

The video below presents the city-builder aspect of things:

Manor Lords is currently on Steam as Styczen strives towards an early access launch. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
