Frost Fatales: All-women Charity Speedrun Schedule Out

This year’s Awesome Games Done Quick seemed to have flown by in the blink of an eye. After witnessing some truly astonishing runs of the Fallout anthology and Super Monkey Ball, I find myself yearning for more.

Fortunately, another GDQ-related speedrunning extravaganza is on the horizon, and this time, it’s an all-women event called Frost Fatales.

Scheduled to take place from February 23rd to March 1st, Frost Fatales is an online speedrunning marathon that showcases a diverse range of speedruns by women. The schedule has just been released, and it appears to be jam-packed with entertaining runs. On the very first day, there will be Hollow Knight and Portal, and I’m definitely going to be tuning in for Spyro and Tetris Effect. You’ll be able to catch all the action via GDQ’s Twitch channel when the event commences in February.

“Looking for more speedrunning after #AGDQ2020? Our next live/online hybrid event on Feb 23-29 is @FrameFatales! Frame Fatales Frost is the next installment of our all-women speedrunning event, raising money for charity for the first time! Not only does Frost Fatales aim to promote women in speedrunning, but the event is also for a noble cause: all proceeds will be donated to The Malala Fund. Founded by Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, this charity strives to “break down the barriers that prevent more than 130 million girls worldwide from attending school”.

Meanwhile, Frost Fatales was established as part of GDQ Hotfix (a Twitch series intended to highlight speedrunning events), and it is the winter version of Frame Fatales, which made its debut last May. By all accounts, that event was a resounding success – despite the interference of a squirrel that decided to munch on one player’s cables.
