For a long time, German game boxes have been plagued by the USK, the local game rating board in the country, along with its colossal logo. I have never witnessed the logo being so massive and intrusive before. It is so overwhelming that it has pushed a crucial character off the front of the box. Thanks to AllGamesDelta for bringing this to our attention. Poor Yoshi, Mario’s devoted green dinosaur sidekick, has been completely removed from the box cover by Nintendo, just to make way for the USK to plaster its logo there. Just take a look at the variations below. There’s the UK one with our PEGI rating, then the German cover with the USK stamp, and also the North America’s ESRB cover for comparison.

UK, German and North American boxes.

Not only has Yoshi been erased from the German cover, but Pikachu has also been shifted around. His lightning rod tail, famous for its ability to generate sparks of electricity, has been carelessly pushed up inside the loose parts of Link’s tunic. Come on, Germany. This is truly agonizing for everyone involved.
