Halo 5: Tribute To Daughters Who Lost Their Lives In Fire

In January 2016, Adam Bartels, a Halo player known as thecrzedspartan, tragically lost his two teenage daughters, Trinity, 15, and Lena, 12, in an electrical fire at their family home in Wauzeka, a small village in Wisconsin, United States.

After the heartbreaking news reached r/Halo, the developers at 343 Industries created the Spartans Never Walk Alone pack in honour of Adam’s family and his daughters.

This special pack includes the True Light emblem, which is named after the first initials of each of Adam’s daughters’ names. It is the first animated emblem to be added to Halo 5. All players receive the pack as part of this month’s free update.

Halo 5’s development chief, Josh Holmes, said in a post on Halo Waypoint: “As a father, I can only imagine the depth of pain and sorrow this loss has brought. In the days following the tragedy, it was truly inspiring to see the Halo community come together to offer their support and assistance in various ways to Adam and Rebecca.

343 Industries has also added a special feature to the new Arena map, Torque. Holmes describes it:

“As players look up at the night sky and scan the stars, the names Trinity and Lena will be visible in the constellation. These are but small gestures designed to honour Adam’s daughters, ensuring that their memories are always close at hand within the universe they hold dear.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the Bartels family. Josh Holmes, the highest donor, has contributed $1000.
