It seems a new Skate version is coming

After years of toiling in the wild, there are ongoing plans to revitalize EA’s dormant Skate series – specifically for mobile phones. This was disclosed by pro skater Jason Dill, who informed The Nine Club podcast that he had received an approach to feature in the game (courtesy of Wccftech). “I received a call from the EA folks approximately 10 months ago. They said, ‘Hey, we want to discuss the Skate game.’ I replied, that’s fine. [They] essentially stated, ‘We aim to create a mobile version of Skate 3.’ I wrote back and asked, ‘What else?’ She responded, ‘No, that’s it.'” In reaction to this, it’s reasonable to assert that Dill expressed the sentiment shared by the majority of Skate fans at this juncture. “I wrote back, ‘Hey, no biggie, but nobody desires your senseless mobile version of Skate 3. Just create Skate 4 already, because, you know, do it. Just make the game and rejoin the fray. You may not achieve the same level of success as other games, but do it for the cultural aspect that will reward you in the long run.'” As for the potential new features of this Skate 3 version, we’ll have to wait and observe – it doesn’t seem like Dill remained engaged to inquire. If you’re still anticipating a new console skating game, well, there’s some positive news. Besides discussing Skate, Dill also made mention of the competing series Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater – and provided yet another affirmation that the series is set to return later this year. In a detail noted by VG247, Dill admitted that he had contributed to the new Tony Hawk game’s soundtrack. This constitutes a third confirmation of the series’ comeback this year, following previous slips by fellow skater Lizzie Armanto on the same podcast and punk band The Death Set, who posted on their Facebook about licensing songs to the unannounced game. NDA? What NDA? Let’s hope this installment proves to be an improvement over the chaos that was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 upon its launch.
