PlayStation Plus: Devil May Cry 5, More This Month

UPDATE 12/1/23: Sony has now clarified that the announcement made last night, stating that Sayonara Wild Hearts would be included in the PlayStation Plus game catalogue, was a mistake. “Sayonara Wild Hearts was erroneously declared as a part of the January Game Catalog lineup for PlayStation Plus,” the company stated in an update to its blog post. No explanation was provided for this error. However, the rest of the month’s upcoming game lineup remains unchanged, with Back 4 Blood, Devil May Cry 5, and Life is Strange still on the list. More details on these will be provided below.

No reason was given for the error. The rest of the month’s upcoming game line-up remains as is, including Back 4 Blood, Devil May Cry 5 and Life is Strange. More on all that below.

ORIGINAL STORY 11/1/23: Sony has unveiled the games that are set to be added to its PlayStation Plus catalogue this month for Premium and Extra tier subscribers. This includes a variety of titles such as Back 4 Blood, Life is Strange, Devil May Cry 5, and many more. Back 4 Blood, the cooperative zombie shooter from the Left 4 Dead studio Turtle Rock, aims to bring a fresh twist to the genre through its game-altering deck building feature. Meanwhile, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, by Capcom, is the highly regarded latest installment in the long-standing demonic hack-and-slash series. The acclaimed supernatural narrative adventure series Life is Strange is joining the PlayStation Plus catalogue with two installments – the initial episodic adventure by developer Dontnod and Deck Nine’s prequel Before the Storm, which follows the adventures of Chloe Price before she encounters the protagonist Max Caulfield from the first game.

But that’s not all that’s coming to the PlayStation Plus catalogue for Premium and Extra subscribers. Arc System Works’ outstanding Dragon Ball FighterZ is on its way, as is developer Simogo’s beautifully dreamlike rhythm game Sayonara Wild Hearts. The stunt-action sandbox sequel Just Cause 4: Reloaded is also joining the lineup, along with Superbrother’s sci-fi exploration adventure Jett: The Far Shore, the puzzle adventure Omno, and the live-action interactive thriller Erica – which Eurogamer highly appreciated when it was released in 2019. And for those who have a penchant for retro games, Premium tier subscribers can look forward to the arrival of three PlayStation 1 games: Star Wars Demolition, Hot Shots Golf 2, and Syphon Filter 3. Here’s the list presented in a more concise manner:

  • Back 4 Blood (PS4, PS5)
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ (PS4)
  • Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition (PS5)
  • Erica (PS4)
  • Jett: The Far Shore (PS4, PS5)
  • Just Cause 4: Reloaded (PS4)
  • Life is Strange (PS4)
  • Life is Strange: Before the Storm (PS4)
  • Omno (PS4)
  • Sayonara Wild Hearts (PS4)
  • Hot Shots Golf 2 (PS1)
  • Star Wars Demolition (PS1)
  • Syphon Filter 3 (PS1)

All the aforementioned games will be added to the PlayStation Plus catalogue next Tuesday, 17th January.
