Sky Atlantic viewers to watch The Last of Us simultaneously with HBO premiere

If you’re based in the UK and eagerly anticipating the upcoming TV adaptation of The Last of Us, here’s some excellent news for you. It will be airing on Sky Atlantic at the same time as it does on HBO in the US.

However, this does present a rather challenging situation for UK viewers. It will mean staying up until 2 am if you’re in Blighty. But if you’re a die-hard fan of The Last of Us like me, this show might just make the early morning hours and inevitable reliance on caffeine worth it.

Additionally, following each episode (the first one premieres on 16th January in the UK), there will be discussions about everything that just transpired in Joel and Ellie’s lives thanks to Sky Atlantic’s The Last of Us 2 am Club. [UPDATE: Sky has confirmed The Last of Us will be available to watch in UHD – thanks, Ishraq!]

If you’d rather not sacrifice precious sleep, don’t worry. The show will of course be available on demand after.

PSA: Mark your calendars for 2 am on January 16th, when you can watch #TheLastofUs on Sky Atlantic, simultaneously with its US premiere! Who’s up for it?

Join the 2 am Club Community to engage in discussions about each episode as soon as it airs. (Or, if you prefer more civilized hours, you can watch it via @skytv and @NOW.) https://t.co/Ipdn0BHy37

While we still have a few days to wait until its debut, the first reviews for The Last of Us are in, and they are overwhelmingly positive.

In fact, one reviewer claims that The Last of Us has “shattered the ceiling for video game adaptions” (considering the numerous such adaptations currently in the works).

So, will you be joining me in staying up for 2 am on Monday?
