Super Mario: Sales Soar, Drama Unfolds

Super Mario 3D All-Stars has achieved an astonishing feat by selling more physical copies in just two weeks than Marvel’s Avengers managed to in four. This Nintendo Switch exclusive has now become September’s most significant selling boxed game release and ranks as the third largest launch of the year thus far, trailing only behind the PlayStation exclusive The Last of Us 2 and the wildly popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Nintendo’s compilation, which includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, is, for some inexplicable reason, available for purchase only until March of next year. Nintendo has stated that a limited quantity of physical copies is being produced, and its digital version will also be removed from the Switch eShop.

Martin gave the trilogy’s presentation a somewhat mixed assessment in Eurogamer’s Super Mario 3D All-Stars review, while simultaneously lauding the two masterpieces contained within.

Mafia: Definitive Edition and Mafia Trilogy have both successfully entered the UK boxed games chart’s top 10 this week, finding their places between the Nintendo Switch mainstays Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, both of which continue to sell incredibly well.
