Twitch Slashes UK Subscription Prices

Twitch Slashes UK Subscription Prices

Twitch is set to reduce the cost of Tier 1 subscriptions in the UK from £4.99 to £3.99, and this adjustment will come into effect starting this week. This move is an integral part of a broader initiative to implement local pricing that takes into account the cost of living and exchange rates in each and every region.

Under the prevailing pricing framework, UK subscribers were shelling out approximately $7 USD per subscription, a figure that is notably higher than the $4.99 paid by Americans. Consequently, the new price is deemed to be far more equitable for subscribers residing outside the United States.

The introduction of local pricing has also made its way to the rest of Europe. Currently, the majority of EU member states are now required to pay €3.99 per subscription. Back in July, this pricing structure also made its debut in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Local sub pricing has reached Europe. Beginning this week, the new subscription prices in the UK and Ireland are as follows:

£3.99 GBP
€3.99 EUR

Nevertheless, not everyone is content with this alteration. Some creators contend that they will experience a substantial loss in revenue due to the lower prices in regions outside America. Twitch, however, holds a different view. They assert that more affordable prices will, over time, entice more viewers to become subscribers, thereby boosting revenue.
